Commodities surged Thursday despite an ambiguous pledge by the EU to help Greece in overcoming its budget deficits. WTI crude oil rose for the 4th consecutive day and settled at 75.28, up + 1%, Thursday. Heating oil and gasoline also climbed +0.8% and +0.3% to close at 1.96 and 1.93, respectively. In the precious metal complex, gold rallied but faltered below 1100. The benchmark contract gained +1.7% to close at 1094.7. Silver closed at 15.59, rising +1.9%. For PGMs, platinum edged +0.4% higher while palladium added +1.4%.
